Week of January 26 - January 30, 2015

Well as we enter yet another week of probable snow delays and/or delays, the week is planned as follows as of now:



Spelling - Next pretest is planned for Tuesday, Jan 27 but will now be on WEDNESDAY, Jan. 28th. The next list will be list 12 and goes along with the story "Adelina's Whales". The words are as follows: two, to, too, piece, peace, break, brake, there, their, they're, threw, through, by , bye, beat, beet, thrown, throne, aloud, allowed. Challenge words are : principal, principle, symbol, cymbal, stationary, stationery. As you can see, the list is all homophones which are words that sound the same but have different meanings. It is important that you also understand the meaning of the words and how they are used in the example sentences in order to spell the correct form of the word.


Grammar- Mrs. Nestor's class will have a quiz on action and linking verbs on Wednesday this week. It was originally planned for tomorrow, but with the snow it will now be on Wednesday. Mrs. Reinoehl's class will work on narrative poem writing and some valentine projects for our bulletin board. Homework for this week, will be determined depending on the snow situation, so stay tuned and make sure to check the assignment books.



Reading - The reading test on the skills and vocabulary that go along with the story "The Man Who Named the Clouds" will now be on WEDNESDAY, Jan 28th. Review what graphic sources are : maps, diagrams, graphs, pictures, charts, time lines. Also review the vocabulary words: apprentice, atmosphere, chemical, club, essay, manufacturing, pressure, and scales. The definitions are defined in the notebooks ( Reinoehl's) and on the vocab sheet (Nestor's). Thursday and Friday we will start the next story titles "Adelina's Whales" . We will have homework on Thursday and most likely Friday of this week, so again, stay tuned for updates and go with the assignment books.


VO- the next list has been given for the third quarter. We will have a test on the prefixes on that list on FRIDAY of this week. Please STUDY daily.

Science- This week we will be finishing chapter 3. A test will be given some time next week ( date is yet to be determined). The animal reports are going to be now due on Wednesday, February 4 due to all the snow delays and cancellations.
