Week of March 17 - 21, 2014


Reading - we will be reading about odd and strange animals this week. Our focus story is "Encantado: Pink Dolphin of the Amazon". The focus skills will be compare/contrast, generalizations, and using context clues and graphic sources to aid in comprehension.

Homework will be as follows:

Monday - new vocab; we will define the words in school and you will need to write a story or use the words in sentences. The sentences must be at least 5- 7 words in length and indicate that you understand the meaning of the word. Words should be studied each night Monday - Thursday.

Tuesday - practice book p. 167-168 on comparing and contrasting

Wednesday - complete practice book p. 164 and also complete the bottom of the page "Write an Advertisement".

Thursday - complete p. 169-170 in your practice book on posters/announcements. You Do NOT have to complete question number 5 on p. 169 ; study your vocab words

Friday - test



Grammar- subject/object pronouns

Monday -complete grammar book p. 65

Tuesday - finish grammar book p. 66

Wednesday- complete p. 67 -68, test tomorrow

Thursday - no homework

Friday - no homework


Spelling -

Monday - corrections 3 times each , post test will be on Friday.
