Homework for this week:
Reading - this week we will be doing another close reading selection about another biome. We will be reading and answering questions about the tropical rain forest. We will also discuss the week's vocabulary words and read the story "Encyclopedia Brown" from our reading text in small groups. Homework in reading will be to study the vocabulary on the family times newsletter.
Grammar - We will be learning about contractions and negatives this week. Contractions are shortened forms of two words. An apostrophe takes the place of one or more letters. Review using the family times letter each night. Quiz will be on Friday.
spelling - pretest on Monday with corrections for homework. Tuesday will be the word search and Wednesday homework will be the ABC order sheet. Post test will be on Friday. study the list on the family times newsletter.
Math - We are continuing adding and subtracting of fractions but now are working with improper fractions and mixed numbers as well. Homework will be 12-7 on Monday, 12-8 on Tuesday, 12-9 on Wednesday, and 12-10 on Thursday. We will cover 12-11on Friday but will give time to complete the homework in school. test is tentatively scheduled for next Monday, March 14.
Science - watershed poster was due on Friday. we will be wrapping up habitats and ecosystems this week and starting electricity and magnetism.
social studies- we will be continuing our lessons on PA. We will start to learn the history of PA. Check assignment books for any homework this week.
chinese auction theme basket- we have decided to do a "green" basket, with natural cleaning and household products. We will send home a list of some ideas to contribute to our basket this week. If you have any ideas to share, please let us know. We want to include different eco-friendly products to use in our home and environment.
