Week of February 8 - 12, 2016

Math- We will be working on lessons 11-4 to 11-7 this week. Homework will be as follows: 11-4 on MOnday, 11-5 on Tuesday, 11-6 on Wednesday, and 11-7 on Thursday. There is no school on Friday or Monday so we will finish up this topic next Tuesday with a test most likely on Thursday, Feb. 18.


Reading - We are starting a new story Monday called "Encantado, the Pink River Dolphin of the Amazon". The skill we will focus on this week is compare and contrast. The vocabulary words for this week are as follows: aquarium, dolphins, enchanted, flexible, glimpses, pulses, and surface. Our grammar lesson this week will be on Kinds of pronouns. Refer to the family times letter each night to review the grammar, reading vocab, and also the spelling list. Reading test will be next Wednesday, Feb. 17th.

Spelling pretest will be tomorrow. The list words are as follows: chicken, eleven, brother, jungle, natural, together, calendar, needle, several, summer, threaten, caterpillar, paddle, animal, pitcher, shelter, oval, frighten, mumble, and deliver. Homework will be to complete the corrections on Monday, word search on Tuesday, and ABC order sheet on Thursday. Post test for this list will be Tuesday, Feb. 16.


Science- we will be starting a study on animal habitats this week. I have been trying to link our reading stories with a science lesson each week so as to make a better connection for the students. we will be talking about animals in reading, so we will focus on that in science as well.
