Homework for the week is tentatively as follows:
Spelling - pretest on Tuesday. The words will go along with the story "Encantado". The words are : chicken, eleven, brother, jungle, natural, together, calendar, needle, several, summer, threaten, caterpillar, paddle, animal, pitcher, shelter, oval, frighten, mumble, and deliver. The post test will be on Friday.
Reading - Test on Tuesday on story "Gasping Garbage" and skills compare/contrast; synonyms/antonyms, and vocabulary words ( analysis, beakers, hollow, identity, lecture, microscope, precise, relentless). Wednesday through Friday we will be starting the story "Encantado" and also doing some PSSA prep work. Homework may possibly be PSSA prep pages.
Eng/Lang - we will be continuing a review of pronouns. We will be focusing on subject and object pronouns. A subject pronoun is used in the subject of a sentence. They are as follows: I, you,he, she, it, we, you, and they. Object pronouns are used as the direct object of a sentence or the object of a preposition. Some object pronouns are them, him, her, and me. We will also introduce demonstrative pronouns, which are pronouns that demonstrate the position of an object. This, that, these, and those are demonstrative pronouns. Reflexive pronouns reflect the action of the verb back on the subject. Himself, herself, myself, and themselves are reflexive pronouns. Homework will be workbook pages 261 and p. 268 on Wednesday. Thursday will be workbook page 305 and a quiz will be given on Friday.
** update as of Wednesday, April 8- we will not start the new story "Encantado" until after PSSAs, that includes the grammar lesson on subject and object pronouns. We will be continuing preparing for the PSSAs.
Science - We are continuing chapter 5. Review the vocab cards daily.
