week of March 9 -13, 2015

Homework for this week is basically a repeat of last week's since we only were in school 1 1/2 days. What a winter! Thankfully, we should be on a warming trend and will be welcoming spring weather this week along with a FULL week of school!

Reading - We are working on the story "Eye of the Storm". We will be completing the skills that go along with this story and will be able to have a test on Friday of this week. The skill is compare and contrast and using knowledge of root words to help figure out unfamiliar word meaning. The vocabulary for this story is as follows:destruction, expected, forecasts, inland, shatter, and surge. I do not want to put exact homework for the week up as it is hard to plan what we will get covered each day, please make sure to check the assignment books for specifics. ( this is for both Nestor and Reinoehl's classes)

English/Lang- We will review past, present, and future tense of verbs. The tense of verbs tells when an action happens. A verb in present tense tells about an action that is happening now. A verb in the past tense tells about action that has already happened. Many past tense verbs end in -ed. A verb in the future tense tells about the action that will happen in the future. The helping verb will is added to a verb to form the future tense. We will have a quiz on this Thursday.( nestor and reinoehl's classes)

Science- We will have a quiz on lessons 2, 3, and 4 this week. Those lessons cover the following: food chain, food web, producer, consumer, decomposer, omnivore, herbivore, and carnivore, and energy pyramid. The quiz will be Thursday of this week. We will be doing an inquiry activity on decomposers as we have gotten in a nice supply of earthworms. If anyone can send in a cleaned, empty metal soup or vegetable can, it would help greatly. We are also in need of a few empty 2 liter soda bottles. Thanks for any help!

Spelling - Post test on possessives will be WEDNESDAY of this week. There are approx 12-15 students that will need to take this test ( you know who you are). Review the words Monday and Tuesday evening.

Have a great week.........we may even get OUTSIDE for recess this week!!! YAHHHHHH!
