Homework for the remainder of this week ( Jan 12 - 16)



Reading - WE will have a test on the vocabulary and skills that go along with the story "So You Want to be President?".
The vocabulary are as follows: Constitution, humble, vain, solemnly, howling, politics, and responsibility. The skills we are testing are finding the main idea ( what's the passage, story, or paragraph mainly about?) and the details that support the main idea ( What information do they tell us about this main idea?). The suffix -ly will also be tested. When ly is added to a base word it makes the word mean " in a certain way". For example solemnly means something done in a solemn ( serious) way. The test will be FRIDAY, JAN. 16.


Grammar- We just had a quiz on plural possessives. WE will not have any homework for the remainder of the week. We will start up next week with a new lesson on action and linking verbs.


Science- We are continuing on with Chapter 3. Due the length of this chapter, we have been taking it section by section. Reading and discussing each section in school and completing lesson checks along the way. The lesson checks are being graded. The lesson checks are completed with the book. 4R has just completed lesson 4 and 4N is completing lesson 3. There will be an animal report assigned either this week or next. All instructions are included in the directions for this report. This will count as a test grade.


Spelling - We are taking the post test for list 10 ( ear, ir, ur words) tomorrow ( Jan 16). WE will have the next pre test on MOnday. This will be list 11 that goes along with the story "The Man who Named the Clouds". The words have -ed and - ing endings. The list is as follows: watched, watching, danced, dancing, studied, studying, stopped, stopping, dried, drying, happened, happening, noticed, noticing, robbed, robbing, slipped, slipping, hurried, hurrying.
