Homework for this week:
Spelling- We are NOT starting a new list until next week. the pretest will be next Monday, Nov. 17. The words will be the list that goes with the story "Scene Two". The list words are as follows: Morning, forest, partner, garbage, form, alarm, corner, story, argue, backyard, start, storm, Florida, apartment, sport, force, forward, sharp, garden, and Arkansas. The challenge words are : departure, margarine, informative, snorkel, carnation.
Grammar - There will be a quiz tomorrow on common and proper nouns. A common noun does not name a specific person, place, or thing and is not capitalized ( unless it is the first word in a sentence). A proper noun names a specific person, place, or thing and is always capitalized such as North Schuylkill Elementary. There will be no homework on Wednesday in grammar. On Thursday we will start a new grammar lesson on regular plural nouns. Thursday's homework will be workbook page 123. Friday the homework will be workbook page 130 ( we will try to finish this in school).
Reading - The test on "What Jo Did" skills and vocabulary will be tomorrow. The vocabulary words are : fouled, marvel, hoop, rim, speechless, unbelievable, swatted, jersey. Also remember that the prefix un and in make a base word mean Not. For example when adding un to happy, you make unhappy which means not happy. On Thursday we will start the next story called "Coyote School News". Thursday's homework will be workbook pages 120, 121, and 122. Friday's homework will be to finish writing a news article using the new vocabulary ( bawling, coyote, dudes, roundup, and spurs). If everyone gets finished in school, then they will have no reading homework for the weekend.
Science- Chapter 2 test is tomorrow. Study the vocabulary words technology, design process, and prototype. Study pages 67, 68, 69, and 70 in your books. We will start Chapter 3 on Thursday. No homework in science for Thursday or Friday.
