Week of October 6 - 10, 2014



Spelling - We are NOT having a pretest today. Our next pretest will be Thursday on list 6. The word list will be sent home today ( Monday). Thursday's homework will be to make corrections 3 times each and to study the list. The post test for this list will be the following Wednesday ( Oct. 15).


Grammar- We are not starting a new grammar lesson this week. We will be writing friendly letters and also completing a Halloween poem or story to display on our bulletin boards. No homework will be given in grammar unless we need to finish something we started in school.


reading - On Monday we will be listening to the story "The Horned Toad Prince". Homework will be to study the vocabulary words that go along with the story. Tuesday, we will read the story in small groups and homework will be to complete the questions on p. 130 found in the reading TEXTbook. Answers should be labeled and written in the reading notebooks. Wednesday we will have the weekly test on the skills practiced in the story. Thursday and Friday there is no homework.


Science- There will be a science test coming up either Friday of this week or Monday of next week. Details will be discussed in class.


Some things to remember for this week are : Thursday is the kindergarten Fall Festival so we will be joining our reading buddies to enjoy the fall activities in the morning. Students can wear gym clothes that day. Friday is a 1/2 day for students. Dismissal is at 1:00 p.m.
