Homework for the week is as follows:
Spelling : pretest on the next list will be Wednesday. The list goes along with the story "Seeker of Knowledge". The words are: bridge, change, equal, excellent, except, excited, exercise, expect, expert, explain, fudge, knowledge, liquid, quart, queen, question, quick, quilt, Texax, and village. Post test on this list will be Friday.
Grammar: we will be working on pronouns and their antecedents. A pronoun takes the place of a noun. The antecedent is the word ( noun) that the pronoun refers to. For example: John decided that he would not travel this summer. The pronoun is "he" and the antecedent is "John". There will not be written homework as we will be working on practicing this in school. There will be a quiz on this on Thursday.
Reading: We will be skipping ahead in our books to the story called "Jim Thorpe's Bright Path". We will have a test on this story on Friday. The skills that will be covered are : fact/opinion and summarizing. The vocabulary words are: boarding school, dormitory, endurance, manual, reservation, and society. Next Monday we will be traveling to Jim Thorpe for our field trip. This will give students some background knowledge of the man who the town is named after. There will not be written homework in reading this week. Students should study the vocabulary words.
Science: Mrs. Nestor's class will continue the study of electricity. Mrs. Reinoehl's class will continue the study of earth and space. There will not be written homework. We will be completing written work in school. Each class should review the vocabulary cards that go with each chapter. ( 4R is chapter 6, 4N is chapter 9)
