Homework for the week of November 3 - 7, 2014



Spelling - We will have a pretest on Tuesday. The list is irregular plurals ( videos, feet, potatoes, etc..) and goes with the story "Coyote School News". We will have the post test on Friday of this week for any that need to take it.


Eng/Lang- We are working on nouns this week. The focus will be on common and proper nouns. Nouns name any person, place, thing, animal, or idea. Common nouns name any person , place, thing, animal, or idea that is not a specific name. Proper nouns name specific places, people, things, animals, or ideas. Proper nouns need to be capitalized. For example:

common noun: town, city, boy, woman, dog

Proper noun: Bloomsburg, Philadelphia, John, Mrs. Reinoehl, Pokey

Homework for the week will be to complete workbook p. 112 on Monday. Tuesday will be to complete workbook p. 119, Wednesday will be p. 165 and Thursday will be a quiz on common and proper nouns. There will be no homework in english/grammar on Friday.


Reading - We are starting unit 2. The first story we will read is called "What Jo Did". On Monday we will introduce the story and skills for the week. We will be working on cause and effect. New vocabulary will be introduced. We will also be working on poem writing this week. The poem will be limerick. Homework for Monday will be to complete workbook p. 109, 110, and 111 ( 1-10 only). Tuesday's homework will be to complete the "words to write" assignment found on p. 176 in the reading textbook. As usual, complete this assignment neatly in your notebooks. On Wednesday, complete workbook p. 115 on prefixes and suffixes. Thursday's homework will be to write a limerick in your notebooks on the topic of Thanksgiving foods and to complete workbook p. 114. Tuesday will be the test on the story.


Science- Mrs. Reinoehl's class will be finishing up chapter 2 early in the week. We will have the Chapter 2 test on Thursday of this week. We will also be conducting another investigation on designing a cart to pull cargo. Mrs. Nestor's class will be creating boats and testing the amount of cargo each boat can carry until it sinks. We will also be finishing up the chapter but will not have the chapter test until MOnday or Tuesday of next week.
