We are moving right along in math. We will be finishing up our chapter on addition this week and move onto subtraction. We will be completed our textbook most likely by the middle of May and then will continue to practice skills in math needed for first grade.
In reading, our next story is called "Mayday, Mayday". The story is about rescue vehicles. Our focus skill will be cause and effect.
In phonics we will be working with digraph sh as in shark. Show and tell will be on Friday, April 30. Please send in an item that begins with digraph sh.
As May is approaching quickly I wanted to remind everyone of some important upcoming events. Our field trip to Lake Tobias is scheduled for May 12. We have a rain date of May 19. A detailed letter will be coming home several days before the trip with specifics. Graduation is going to be May 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the NSHS auditorium. We have begun practicing our songs and the students are sure to put on a wonderful program. School carnival is scheduled for May 24. If you have not done so, please return the form indicating whether or not your child will be ordering the school lunch that day or bringing in their own.
Monday will be day 1 in our six day cycle. Our special class will be library class.
