Happenings Week of March 22 – 26, 2010

· Next week we will be working on the letter Xx as in fox and x-ray. Students will go on a treasure hunt throughout the building to find the “X” that marks the spot of their hidden treasure! How exciting!!! There will be NO Show and Tell.
· In math we are going to be finishing up Chapter 9 on Measurement and beginning Chapter 10 on graphing. We will be working with tally marks and creating graphs based on “data” we collect.
· In reading, we will move on to our next story “One Little Mouse”. Our focus skill will be “sequence”. We will work on retelling the story in proper sequence. We will use words like first, second, next, last.
· Next week we will also be working on third quarter report card testing. We will be asking students to blend words, read letters, sight words, and numbers. The students will also be asked to identify the coins penny, nickel, and dime and tell their value. You may want to review the pink sight word paper and also review coins at home.
· Monday will be day 1 of our 6 day cycle. We will have library class.
