Kindergarten News
Next week we will be learning the consonant letter Pp as in pig, pink, and pumpkin, and to celebrate we will have a Pajama Party on Friday, October 23th from 9:00-11:00 am. Students are asked to wear their pajamas to school. Robes and slippers are optional, however we ask that students wear sneakers or shoes to school and change into slippers after they arrive (due to outside recess and possible inclement weather). Please continue to review the letters we have covered at home using the letter tiles. However, please keep the letter tiles in your child’s folder to come to and from school as we also use them during our phonics lessons.
We will continue chapter 3 in Math by practicing numbers 0 -5. We are also comparing two groups of objects and using words like more and fewer.
In reading we will be finishing up our story Julius and moving on to our last story of unit one, Dig Dig Digging. Our focus skills for unit one are story setting, characters, and comparing and contrasting the story elements.
Next week we will begin our writing program titled Kid writing. Several times during the week we will work in small groups writing stories. Once we complete several pieces I will send home your child’s writing for you to keep and enjoy. It is very exciting to watch the children grow into writers!
Next week school store will begin. The children can shop on their way into school so if you would like your child to shop you may want to have their money in an easily accessible place in their book bags. Some examples of items for sale are pencils, erasers, rulers and small trinkets. Most items cost anywhere from 25 cents to one dollar. Kindergarten’s day to shop at school store will be Monday morning.
