Kindergarten News
*Next week in Phonics we will be learning the Rule vc’/cv (vowel consonant, consonant vowel) as in napkin, after, and number. When we have a word with two vowel sounds we have to separate the word into syllables. We look for a vowel pattern and when we have vccv we divide the word between the consonants. The first syllable is usually accented so we can read it correctly. For example: nap’/kin af’/ter num’/ber
*Thank you to all the PTO and the parents who helped with the Carnival last Friday. It was a FUN time for all!!
*Students who went on the field trip on Wednesday to Lake Tobias (Bernosky, Piatt, Potts, and Tarantelli) had a wonderful time. The weather was great and the animals WILD!!! Thank you to all the chaperones who went along and helped make the day a success.
*Kindergarten Graduation will be held in the High School Auditorium on Friday, May 29th beginning at 9:30. Doors will open @ 9:00am—NO EARLIER! The program will begin at 9:30 sharp so please keep that in mind and allow for time to park and find a seat. There are no reserved seats or a limit to the number of guests per student, therefore, Seating is on a first come first serve basis! There will be light refreshments served afterwards.
~If you are planning a special afternoon for your child after graduation please be sure to sign your child out. We will have a sign out sheet available at the High School to avoid the hassle of coming back to the elementary school. Keep in mind the program will end before our scheduled lunch time.
~If your child has a sibling in another grade and you would like him/her to attend the Kindergarten program, then you must send a note with him/her to allow them to be released from his/her class, and he/she will need to be taken to the high school with you. Kindergarten will be transported separately.
~A Kindergarten Graduation DVD of photos taken throughout the year will be shown at graduation. Copies will be available for sale at graduation. If you are interested in purchasing a DVD, the cost will be $10. It will be CASH and CARRY that day. (Please NO checks!)
*There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, May 25th due to the Memorial Day holiday.
*Report cards will be given to your child on the last day of school, June 2nd. Anyone not in school will be considered absent and report cards will be in the office for parents to come and pick up.
