Kindergarten News
~Thisweek we will be working on the letter Xx as in fox and x-ray. Students will go on a treasure hunt throughout the building to find the “X” that marks the spot of their hidden treasure! How exciting!!! There will be NO Show and Tell.
~In Math we will be starting Chapter 9: Measurement. We will learn to measure how long objects are, how heavy different objects are, and compare how much different containers hold. We will also continue to practice money using pennies, nickels, and dimes, using a calendar and telling time to the hour.
~Monday is Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We will be reading some great books and making some fun things to go along with the stories. We are also having a special guest reader visiting our classroom. On Friday, February 27th some students from Bloomsburg University visited our classrooms to read Dr. Seuss books and did a follow up activity with the students. Be sure to ask your child about their visit!
~February Pizza Hut Calendars will need to be returned thisweek. March will be the last month for the Pizza Hut Book-It Program this school year. Try to read at least 5 times per week throughout the month to earn your last pizza coupon!
~Newspaper in Education Week is a program sponsored by the Pottsville Republican & Herald to promote interest in the newspaper in our schools. It will be starting on Monday, March 2nd and continue through Friday, March 6th. Be sure to read the additional notes sent in your child’s folder. **Teacher Ads will be found in the classified section Monday through Friday, and the “I’m a Reader” contracts will need to be returned the following week.
