Spelling - We will have our post test Monday on words with ou, ow. We will have a pretest on the next list Tuesday ( compound words from p. 53 of your spelling book). Tuesday evening you will be assigned to complete corrections 3 times each from the pretest. Spelling practice book pages 53- 56 will be due on Friday. Post test will be on Monday of next week.
Grammar- This week our lesson will be on verb tense (past, present, future). We will complete p. 53 in class. Grammar practice book p. 54 will be homework Monday evening. On Tuesday, we will go over the homework and complete p. 55 in class. Grammar practice book p. 56 will be homework on Tuesday. Wednesday we will go over p. 56 and review verb tense. Test will be Thursday. Thursday you will also be given the assignment of writing a rough draft of a myth.
Reading - On Monday, we will be starting a new story "How Night Came from the Sea". We will introduce the vocabulary. You will need to create a paragraph using the new vocab which we will define in class. The skills we will be practicing this week will be making generalizations, using visualization to help comprehension, and reviewing main idea and details. We will also continue to work on strategies to help identify unfamiliar words in texts by looking at the root word, prefix, and/or suffix of a word. There will be workbook pages assigned throughout the week practicing these skills. Be SURE to copy your homework from the board each day!
Science - Monday all groups will present their weather posters, interviews, and newspapers. We will then continue to work on our new unit, the solar system.
