Week of May 7 - 11, 2012

Happenings for the week of May 7 – 11, 2012 This week in phonics we will be learning about the digraph “oo”. There are two sounds for this digraph oo as in hook and oo as in tooth. We will learn about both sounds this week. We will NOT have show and tell this week. Word list 23 has been sent home and will be tested on Thursday, May 10. Please continue to review these words daily. In reading we are continuing our theme on homes. Our story for this week is “Building Beavers”. This is an informational text telling about how beavers make their homes. Our focus skill is main idea. In math, we are practicing counting by 10s, 5s, and now 2s. We are learning to identify even and odd numbers, make symmetrical designs, and compare temperatures. If anyone still has not returned the blue permission slip for our field trip, please return it as soon as possible. A letter explaining details about our trip will be coming home the week of the trip. Monday, May 7 will be day 1 in our five day cycle. Our special class will be library.
