News for week of March 26 – 30, 2012
This week in phonics we will be covering our last letter, Qq as in queen and quail. We will not have show and tell this week. On Tuesday, April 3rd, we will celebrate a special day for the girls -“Queen Day!” Girls are invited wear any fancy dress or any queen- like attire and the boys will wait on them all day (crowns will be provided for the queens.) Also on Tuesday, April 3rd, we will celebrate the marriage of Q and U. See your child’s folder later this week for additional information.
In reading, we will be reading and discussing the story, “Messenger, Messenger”, a rhyming story that continues our discussion on forms of transportation by focusing on the job of being a bicycle messenger in a city. The focus skill will be compare and contrast.
In math we will be focusing on the ABBC pattern, tan grams, and money. We have been reviewing pennies, nickels, and dimes and now will add the quarter to our lessons. Please review these coins at home if possible as many children still mix up the dime and the nickel.
