Kindergarten News
· Next week in Phonics we will be learning the vowel letter Aa as in apple and acorn. We will focus on the short vowel sound. Show and Tell for letter Aa may be a bit of a challenge—do your best!
· We will be talking about “pumpkins”, learning about the life cycle of pumpkins, reading some pumpkin stories and maybe even carve our own jack-o-lantern! Each Kindergarten class will participate in a pumpkin decorating contest. The contest is part of Ashland’s Apple Fest being held on Saturday, October 18th. The top three winning pumpkins will earn an ice cream party for their classrooms. All are welcome to attend the Apple Fest. Stop by, join in the festivities, and vote for your favorite pumpkin. (votes are a nickel (5 cents) each)
· Thursday, October 16th is the Kindergarten Fall Festival. Any parents or grandparents who have clearances on file in the office are invited to help. (Please contact your child’s teacher if you are interested and/or available to help or if you have any questions.) Friday, October 17th will be the rain date if needed. All activities will be outside, so please check the weather and dress your child accordingly. The Fall Festival is scheduled from 9:00-11:00 and 12:00-2:00. We will be breaking for lunch for Kindergarten and 4th grade.
**Students will also get to spend the day with their new 4th grade Reading buddies!!!
· Parents who are planning for the Fall Festival will be meeting on Tuesday, October 14th @ 6:30 in the school cafeteria.
· Anyone who has not yet turned in their Kindergarten Fall Festival and Party Money is asked to try and send in the $6.00 as soon as possible. The homeroom parents who are planning the Fall Festival and Halloween parties will need to shop for supplies and goodies. Thank you for your cooperation.
· Thank you to all the parent helpers who helped with the pajama party. It was PERFECT! Your help was greatly appreciated; without you we couldn’t have had such a successful and fun day!!!
